Driftpile Cree Nation Band Membership Application Process
Welcome to the Driftpile Cree Nation Band Membership Information Page
At Driftpile Cree Nation, we are proud of our heritage and committed to fostering a strong, vibrant community. Becoming a Band Member is a significant step in connecting with your heritage and participating fully in the life of our community.
Step 1: Obtain Your Treaty Status
The first and most crucial step towards becoming a Band Member of the Driftpile Cree Nation is obtaining your Treaty status. Your Treaty status is a recognition of your rights and heritage under the historic treaties between Indigenous peoples and the Crown. If you have not yet obtained your Treaty status, we encourage you to do so through the appropriate governmental channels.

Step 2: Apply for Band Membership
Once you have obtained your Treaty status, you are eligible to apply for Band Membership with the Driftpile Cree Nation. To begin the process, please contact our Band Membership Office. You will need to provide the following documents:
- A copy of your Treaty Card
- Your Birth Certificate
These documents are essential for us to verify your Treaty Status information and to proceed with your application.
Step 3: Membership Application Review
Upon receiving your application and verifying your documents, your file will be reviewed by our Membership Application Review Committee. This committee is responsible for a thorough review of each application, ensuring that all criteria are met. The committee may recommend one of the following:
- Request for more information
- Denial of the application
- Acceptance of the application
Step 4: Formal Acceptance
Should the Membership Application Review Committee recommend acceptance, your file will be forwarded to the Chief and Council for formal acceptance. This is the final step in the approval process.
Step 5: Notification and Addition to the Band Member List
Once accepted by the Chief and Council, you will be formally notified of your acceptance as a Band Member of the Driftpile Cree Nation. Following this, you will be added to the Band Member List, officially recognizing you as part of our community.
