PUBLIC NOTICE - CELLULAR COMMUNICATIONS TOWER

The Driftpile Cree Nation recognizes that its membership is often impacted by poor cellular service within the Driftpile Cree Nation and that this poses a safety concern. This concern is amplified when there is a significant risk to the people of the community during emergency response incidences such as fires or flooding or other occurrences requiring the establishment of an emergency response centre.

To alleviate risk, the Driftpile Cree Nation, with the support of Indigenous Services Canada, and in conjunction with TLC Solutions will be installing a 90′ Cellular Tower at 413 Chiefs Way, behind the DCN Community Hall to assist in providing a more reliable cellular network signal in the immediate area of the community hall.

What are cell towers?
A cell tower is a tall structure usually made of steel or galvanized steel. The cell tower being installed will be a tri-pole structure, encased in sheet metal to prevent unauthorized access.

Health Concerns
The installation of the cell tower at 415 Chiefs Way will be fully compliant with federal government standards and regulations. Health Canada has established guidelines regarding human exposure to radiofrequency energy, entitled Umits of Human Exposure to Radiofrequency Electromagnetic Energy in the Frequency Range from 3 kHz to 300 GHz – Safety Code 6 (available online at Health Canada’s website).
